چکیده
Due to climate change impacts, seawater intrusion is a major issue in various river deltas around the globe, including Indus delta, Pakistan. The has severely affected freshwater resources as well livelihood of people living delta. Thus, this study was aimed evaluate subsurface into delta based on groundwater quality data. Around 180 samples, randomly collected from area, were analyzed for chloride, carbonate, and bicarbonate concentrations. Based these concentrations, indication determined using Simpson’s ratio ionic analysis, such chloride bicarbonate. Also, an interpolated map analysis results ratios developed ArcGIS 10.5. Overall, present revealed that about 88% by intrusion. impact observed wells near Thatta Sujawal towns area. However, 12% still unaffected Various factors reduction flow change, sea-level rise are potential causes This may be taken baseline policymakers start mitigation measures against degradation save environment further deterioration. isotopic area recommended.

Optimum Strategies of Groundwater Pumping Regime under Scavanger Tubewells in Lower Indus Basin, Sindh, Pakistan
In general Pakistan is an agricultural country, most of its area including lower Indus basin (LIB) lies in arid and semi-arid zones, where irrigation by canal water and groundwater is only option. Due to continuous seepage from canal irrigation network and infiltration from irrigated lands; without adequate provision of natural and artificial drainage and its appropriate outlet, water-logging a...
متن کاملImpacts of seawater rise on seawater intrusion in the Nile Delta Aquifer, Egypt.
Several investigations have recently considered the possible impacts of climate change and seawater level rise on seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. All have revealed the severity of the problem and the significance of the landward movement of the dispersion zone under the condition of seawater level rise. Most of the studies did not consider the possible effects of the seawater rise on th...
متن کاملAbstraction, desalination and recharge method to control seawater intrusion into unconfined coastal aquifers
In this study, abstraction, desalination and recharge method and SEAWAT numerical model are used to investigate seawater intrusion repulsion in a hypothetical two-dimensional coastal aquifer to understand the relation of seawater intrusion with abstraction, desalination and recharge parameters (i.e. abstraction/recharge rate, wells distance and depth). Abstraction, desalination and recharge con...
متن کاملCoastal Erosion Due to Seawater Intrusion into Groundwater Aquifers
Problem Statement: In general, the drinking water systems sourced from ground water (GW) contains chemicals at double the current maximum contaminant levels (MCL) of colloids. However, due to increasing demand of water, groundwater may be subjected to over-exploitation and the natural equilibrium is thus disturbed. A steady-state condition is established between seawater and freshwater in a coa...
